Implant are artificial tooth roots placed in the jaw bone and made of special material in order to restore the function and aesthetics of missing teeth. It is the best alternative to natural teeth. It provides better speech and chewing function than traditional bridges and prostheses. When applied with the correct diagnosis, sufficient knowledge, experience and equipment, the implant is a form of treatment that can provide extraordinary successful results for patients and physicians.

In case of a single tooth or multiple teeth deficiency, if there is an amount of bone suitable for implant placement, an implant can be made for each case.

Implant screws are structures that have a specific thickness and width. Therefore, in the area where the implant should be placed, the jawbone should have the height and width to accept this implant screw. The quality of the existing bone is also one of the factors that affect the implant success. In addition, gums should be completely healthy before treatment and as long as the implant remains in the mouth. As long as the patient's general health is in good condition, there is no upper age limit to prevent the implant application, but it is not preferred to apply to very young patients who have not completed bone development and to patients who cannot achieve adequate oral hygiene.

  • Implants are left in the bone for 3-6 months to allow them to join with the bone (Osteointegration).
  • If the implants are considered to be foreign bodies in the mouth, their cleaning should be done at least as well as your own teeth.
  • Prostheses to be made on implants can be of different types.

Is the implant risky?

There is no risk beyond the risks that can be observed in all surgical procedures inside or outside the mouth. It is placed in the mouth under local anesthesia. In the early period, after the completion of the prosthesis, problems such as inflammation due to insufficient mouth cleaning may occur. Smoking increases the risk of infection, especially during early recovery.

What advantages does implant treatment offer in which cases?

Implant is the first management that should be considered in people who do not have teeth but cannot use mobile prostheses for various reasons such as excessive nausea, reflex, and high degree of jaw bone melting.

Patients carrying total dentures with no teeth in the lower jaw; They complain of constant pain (bumps), inability to chew well and prosthesis play. This complaint increases with the dissolution of bone tissue that supports prosthesis over time. In such patients, implant treatment eliminates all of the above complaints and stops the melting of the bone.

The ugly appearance of the prosthesis, which is attached with the hooks, or the necessity of cutting the solid teeth to make a bridge makes the implant the only alternative. Placement of a single implant saves neighboring teeth and causes more aesthetic and functional results.

What are the advantages of implant treatment?

  • Better chewing
  • Better aesthetic appearance
  • A happier social life with the recovery of self-confidence
  • Healthier and balanced diet depending on being able to eat everything
